2014 Vergelegen GVB White
- Sauvignon Blanc,
- South Africa
- Critic Rating
The 2014 Vergelegen GVB White is a true gem from a glorious producer founded back in the year 1700 by the van der Stel family. The estate is very strongly tied to the history and development of viticulture and winemaking in South Africa. This wine is included in the Flagship classification of the estate and displays the same features of richness and complexity, very common in the fine whites from Vergelegen.
The 2014 Vergelegen GVB White is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, highlighting notes of lemon and lime, complemented by honey, hazelnut and grass. Our general recommendation for food pairing would be leaning towards soft cheese and fish, preferably a meaty one.
In case you are looking for a wine for a specific occasion, the 2014 Vergelegen GVB White is perfect if you are seeking some refreshment during a hot summer’s day, but it is also very suitable for a well-thought aperitif.
