The 2010 Bouchard Père & Fils Les Perrieres, Meursault Premier Cru is a white wine made entirely from Chardonnay by the domaine Bouchard Pere & Fils, one of the most prominent winemakers in the Burgundian Côte de Beaune. The estate is an enormous mosaic of 450 different plots, but the Meursault Perrieres appellation in particular is considered to be one of the most suitable terroirs to grow Chardonnay.
This part of Meursault is marked by thin, rocky soils ensuring good drainage, with high proportions of limestone, resulting in the wines to be mineral. The position of the vineyards on the slope protects the grapes from cold winds from the west and exposes them to sunlight for large part of the day, hence the fruit reaches maximum ripeness before the harvest. A temperature variation during the day allows ripening to happen evenly, preserving the grapes’ natural acidity.
The 2010 Bouchard Père & Fils Les Perrieres, Meursault Premier Cru is widely recognised as one of the finest wines from the appellation. It displays notes of white fruit, butter and honey, making it a gentle and rich companion for seafood and fish, sushi and soft cheese.
