The 2006 Torbreck The Struie is an Australian red wine made from Shiraz. It is produced by Torbreck Vintners, a project founded by David Powell in the Barossa Valley in 1994. David’s vision was to produce wines from different plots and all the wines made under his management follow the pattern. The Struie is no exception, with its Shiraz being sourced from 40 as well as 80 years old vines.
The grapes have been cultivated in Eden Valley, the cooler region to the east of Barossa Valley. A couple of weeks later ripening pattern results in more distinctive varietal flavour characteristics and higher acidities.
The 2006 Torbreck The Struie displays blueberry and blackberry notes and a quiet mineral profile, alongside hints of pencil lead and game. We believe it’s the right wine to impress friends or to be enjoyed during a relaxed Friday night. In terms of food pairing, we would suggest not to discard an adventurous combination with a juicy beef burger.
